What Is a Hybrid Bike?

The tires of a hybrid bike are a little wider than the narrow tires found on road bikes. They are closer in width to mountain bike tires but with shallower tread so that they can grip pavement as well as loose soil and gravel.
The frame of a hybrid bike is designed to be heavier than a road bike but lighter than a mountain bike so that it can ride equally well in both areas. The materials used to make the frame are similar in any case: aluminum, carbon fiber, or steel.
How Do You Choose the Right Model for You?
The right model of hybrid bike depends on where and how often you ride. If you do not ride very often or you frequently cover hilly terrain, you could benefit from a bike that offers more gears to make pedaling easier. On the other hand, if you ride in the Ahwatukee, Arizona, area more often or cover mostly flat terrain, a bike with few gears will probably work fine for you.
Another important consideration is the frame size relative to your height. You may have trouble propelling and controlling a bike that is either too large or too small for you.
